Shape the World Green
The Toorkyaung nature school is founded based on the principles of permaculture, which is systematically managed to create a sustainable environment for humans.
Now we have a school precinct where there will be a new education system, a new economy and community –based energy-sufficiency plan and other productive activities.
The main drive for the emergence of this education project is current environmental problems and social struggle facing the whole nation. No one but social organizations like ours will solve this problem.
The Toorkyaung Nature School’s Permaculture system is not just for landscaping but also for educating, economic system, energy system, and systematic disposal and recycling.
That is why we systematically choose a location of the school where there is ample amount of sunlight and energy source. We systematically harvest rain water for water resource and choose building materials.
We also arrange a plantation garden to grow vegetables for the school by using organic waste. We also intend to grow some other plants and trees so that we will get wind breaking, prevention of soil erosion, and production of biofuel. To sum up, our school is founded considering thoroughly preservation and proliferation of diverse species, prevention of soil erosion, protection of water resources, preservation of natural beauty of the school and prevention of environmental hazards.
Playfulness
Our school is a place where children learn while playing, which is the foundation of explorations and discoveries. Playing brings strength, performance and emotion. It helps develop natural learning for development, allowing personal contact thus helping to understand the environment and ourselves more and more. Children can gain friendship by playing joyfully.
Safe playing
Now parents want their children to play safely in the natural environment. However, we all know that the natural environment is indeed ruining continuously and it proves the need for a nature school. A nature school is safe in the natural environment unlike other conventional schools. It can also fulfil the needs of the society.
Sense of Self and Social
The true relationship is the foundation of our school. It is necessary for ones to improve personally, socially and mentally by socializing with a sincere attitude. We will help children to develop social dealing skill, empathy and a sense of duty for the environment.
Authentic/Active
Multiple Intelligences and KMS learning approach is the core of our project. We focus on process rather than the product as we believe that children learn through experiences and learning naturally in the natural environment plays a vital role in understanding themselves and thus they will come to know the real aim of learning.
Freedom of Choice
What am I? What can I do? These are the questions which are important for our lives. Children are capable in their own ways. We will train them to learn to understand themselves and other people. We will give them the rights to choose and understand their talents and aims, understanding that everyone has their own abilities.
Healthy Child
Good Health is a perfect condition which is not only freedom from diseases but also mental peacefulness and happiness out of healthy social dealings. We focus on that fact that a clean and healthy environment where we can rely on each other, consuming food full of nutrients can bring us success in life.
Fitness
Only when we are physically strong, we will be able to perform our daily duties. Becoming mentally and physically strong is another benefit for active students. A person who is physically and mentally strong will be a healthy and active person throughout their lives.
Beautiful Mind, Wise Child
In this rapidly changing world, the very first thing needed to be done to nurture children is knowing what is important. It may vary from child to child. Our duty is to believe in children, to help them to endure, be brave, be creative, be able to solve problems, to be well-disciplined and maintain personal hygiene and live decently.
